David and Linda Serlin were introduced to Science of Mind in 1997 “whilst attending a lecture at a spiritual center in England . The philosophy really resonated with our own ideas, and we were soon captivated by its message. In 1998 we first visited Asilomar and, amazingly, were invited to submit proposals to present our workshop, ‘The Divine Power of Color’, the following year. It was then that we set up our formal study group called ‘In Essence’. We focus on getting to the heart and soul of the teachings and applying them to our daily lives. For many people the study group has become a ‘lifeline’, connecting us with something deeper and more profound. Our meetings are always lively, vibrant, and full of humor.” The group includes psychologists, educators, NLP practitioners, and energy workers. At their New Year’s meeting, they had a “wheel of fortune” blessing each person’s hopes, dreams, and affirmations for 2006.

King’s Langley is a large old English village rich in history. About 500 years ago, the King gave parcels of land, called langleys, to favored people, thus the name King’s Langley. It is rural, about one hour from London .

The Serlins act as a network center receiving many calls and emails enquiring about SOM from all over England . They envision a network of small, dedicated study groups in the UK , linked by a common philosophy and outlook. The main obstacle to acceptance of SOM and Religious Science is the name. It is confused with Scientology and Christian Science. Once people discover the true nature of the teachings, they are readily accepted.

While, as a group, we do not need anything, we would always welcome back up support with tapes, music, lectures, study group material, information, and contacts with groups and churches in the states… and maybe even a visit by a minister.
