Sunday, May 22, 2005 was a historic event in Monterrey , Mexico with the Ordination ceremony for Rev. Alida Rodriguez Orozco and Rev. Jose de Lira Sosa. Officiating at the ceremony was Rev. Dr. Kathy Hearn. It was a great celebration with a black tie dinner and dance in one of Monterrey ’s best hotels. Although many more wanted to come, attendance had to be limited to 250 students.

Rev. Alida and Rev. Jose began studying SOM in 1985 with Dr. Cielo Torrens in San Fernando Valley , California , and became practitioners in 1989 with Rev. Jack and Ruth Deaton. In 1998, after graduating from ministerial school in El Monte , they began their Institute in Monterrey . They have taught over 1,000 students in the past 18 years.

They have written seven books, “The Joy of Living”, “You Can Live with Prosperity Now”, “Jesus, the Great Metaphysical Teacher”, “You Can Heal through Your Mind”, “How to Find Your Treasure”, “Book of Scientific Prayers”, and “The Mind, Irresistible, Creative Force.” They are giving lectures in some of the biggest bookstores in Monterrey , and are finding many people interested in taking classes. They currently have 250 students with two new classes of 25 each. Twenty-three of their 35 practitioner students will finish their training this year. Rev. Alida says, “We continue to have many healing testimonies. We are working very hard, as there is a lot of need for healing- people are hungry for that. We give workshops and talks almost every week in different places, including book stores, because so many people are interested in Science of Mind.”

Their dream of a healing center just outside of Monterrey continues to be a project, but they found it necessary to remodel their present location because there are so many students. The healing retreat will be called El Eden will be not only for Mexicans, but also for people from all over the world to come to heal. It will cost $250,000 to complete it..
